How to Become a GetYourGuide Supplier: Requirements, Documents and Approval
Who GetYourGuide accepts, the documents a company or individual trader needs, each step from sign-up to your first approved activity, and the most common reasons for a decline.
By OperatorGateway
To become a GetYourGuide supplier, you need a legally operating business that runs its own tours, activities or attractions, a valid photo ID for the person verifying, and your registry, tax and bank details. You sign up on the Supplier Portal, pass an ID and selfie check, add payment and tax details, then submit an activity for review. The sign-up itself takes minutes. Verification and the activity review take longer.
Everything below comes from GetYourGuide's Supply Partner Help Center. Its articles change from time to time, so check the linked pages before you start. Many people search for this as "Get Your Guide supplier"; it is the same program.
Who GetYourGuide accepts as a supplier
GetYourGuide's page on who can apply says it works with registered businesses and individual traders that directly operate their own tours, activities or attractions. The business has to be legally operating, and it must hold a valid insurance policy where one applies to its activities.
It does not accept:
- Resellers and aggregators
- Online travel agencies
- Destination management companies (DMCs)
- Unregistered private guides
Online travel agencies, DMCs and hotel or flight businesses are pointed to GetYourGuide's Affiliate Partner Program instead. If you resell tours that other companies run, that program is your route, and the supplier sign-up will not work for you.
Your activities also have to pass a content check. GetYourGuide's restricted activities page excludes, among others, SIM cards and other connectivity products, self-guided experiences without a physical ticket, guide or equipment, point-to-point transfers that are not tied to an experience, standalone services such as accommodation or luggage storage, free or tip-based tours, and donation or volunteer activities. Animal welfare rules apply on top of that.
Check your country before anything else
The same restricted activities page lists countries where GetYourGuide has restricted supplier onboarding because of elevated business risk: Bangladesh, Egypt, India, Kenya, Morocco, Myanmar, Pakistan, the United Arab Emirates, Tanzania and Turkey. If your business or your activities are based in one of these, the standard sign-up will not get you through, however complete your documents are. GetYourGuide's verification guide names this as one of the reasons a verification can be declined.
We explain the list in which countries GetYourGuide restricts, and the routes that stay open in GetYourGuide doesn't accept my country.
Documents you need
Your document list depends on your legal status, and you pick that status during sign-up. GetYourGuide's verification guide gives a simple test. If your business appears in an official registry with its own registration number, choose Registered Company. If you trade under your own name, as a sole trader or freelancer, choose Individual Trader. A tax or VAT number on its own does not make you a registered company.
Registered company
- A valid government-issued photo ID for the person who completes verification (a passport is recommended)
- The legal company name exactly as it appears in the registry, including punctuation and accents
- The company registration number from the business registry (a tax ID or VAT number will not work here)
- The registered business address and the country of registration
- The managing director's name
- A contact phone number and email address
- A tax identification number (TIN), entered later in the finance section
Individual trader
- A valid government-issued photo ID (passport recommended)
- Your full legal name, exactly as it appears on the ID
- A business or personal address
- A professional registration or licence number, if you have one (optional)
- A contact phone number and email address
- Your personal tax identification number
For both types you also need a phone or laptop with a working camera, good light, and your bank details for payouts. GetYourGuide's article on legal documents says that in most countries a local VAT ID is not mandatory. Suppliers in the United States, Mexico and the UAE have different requirements: US companies need an EIN, US individual traders an SSN or ITIN, and all suppliers in Mexico a VAT identification number.
Step 1: Create your account
Open GetYourGuide's supplier sign-up page, click Get Started and enter your contact and business details. After you submit, you receive a confirmation email. The link in it activates your account and gives you access to the Supplier Portal, where you manage activities, bookings and payments. GetYourGuide's getting started guide says this first part takes a few minutes.
Step 2: Complete verification
In the Supplier Portal, go to Company profile and click Verify now. You confirm your company or personal details, upload a photo of your ID, and take a selfie. GetYourGuide uses an identity partner, Persona, to compare the ID with the selfie. You have to give explicit consent before this step.
Prepare before you begin, because the guide recommends finishing everything in one session. Photograph the physical ID on a flat, dark surface with all four corners visible; screenshots and printed copies are not accepted. For the selfie, remove hats and sunglasses, make sure you are alone in the frame, and turn your head when prompted. If you start on a laptop, you can finish the photo steps on your phone through a QR code or a secure link.
One detail catches people out: the person whose details you enter has to be the person who uploads the ID and takes the selfie. Your ID can come from a different country than your registered business.
Step 3: Add tax and payment details
Under Finance, then Payment & tax details, enter your TIN, your VAT number if you are VAT-registered, and your bank details. Do not leave this for later. GetYourGuide says that without completed verification and updated payment details, you cannot submit products for review. For registered companies, a missing company registration number or TIN also means that invoices are not generated in the Supplier Portal.
Step 4: Submit your first activity
Create the activity under Create, then New product. Fill in every required field: title, description, options, prices, availability, meeting point and what is included. Then click Submit for review. The status changes to In review, and an approved activity shows as Bookable in your Products tab.
How long approval takes
- Account creation: a few minutes.
- Verification: GetYourGuide's common questions page says most suppliers finish the online steps in under 10 minutes when their documents are ready. Many are approved within minutes; cases that go to manual review can take up to 48 hours.
- Activity review: according to GetYourGuide's activity review article, most activities are reviewed within a few days, depending on how many submissions are waiting and how clear and complete yours is. Since December 2024, new activities are reviewed both before and after they go live.
Why verification gets declined
GetYourGuide lists the common causes in its article on fixing verification issues. Most of them are data entry problems:
- Brand name instead of legal name. The trading name on your website is not the name in the registry.
- Wrong number. A VAT or tax number entered where the company registration number belongs, or a registration number without its prefix or official format.
- Personal details in company fields. Your own name or home address entered where the company's legal name and registered office should go.
- Wrong business type. A freelancer registered as a company, or the reverse. You cannot change this during verification; Supplier Support can reset it.
- ID problems. An expired ID (even by one day), glare, a blurry or cropped photo, or a document type your country does not accept.
- Selfie problems. Poor light, a partly covered face, other people in the frame, or head-turn prompts not followed.
- Reused ID or selfie. If the ID or selfie is already linked to another account, contact Supplier Support instead of opening a new account.
- A new company not yet in the registry. Wait until the registration shows in the official registry, then verify.
You have three attempts in total, so fix the exact cause before you try again. If everything is correct and you are still declined, Supplier Support can move your case to manual review when you send screenshots, your country and your business type. If you applied as a natural person and an automated decision declined you, the verification guide says you can ask for a human review under GDPR.
Why activities get rejected
Passing verification does not guarantee that your first activity goes live. The activity review article gives three common reasons for a rejection:
- The activity is too similar to experiences already on the platform.
- It does not meet GetYourGuide's quality standards for content, presentation or operations.
- It does not fit the experience categories GetYourGuide currently supports.
You get an email with the decision and the reason, and the activity shows as rejected in your product list. A rejected activity cannot be resubmitted. GetYourGuide says that recreating the same activity will not change the outcome, but you can create a new one that offers something genuinely different. It also says it cannot give detailed feedback on every rejection.
FAQ
Can a private guide become a GetYourGuide supplier?
Only as a registered individual trader. GetYourGuide accepts individual traders who run their own tours, but it does not accept unregistered private guides.
Can a travel agency become a GetYourGuide supplier?
Not for tours it resells. GetYourGuide onboards direct operators only and points online travel agencies and DMCs to its Affiliate Partner Program. If your agency also runs some tours itself, those can qualify.
Do I need a VAT number to sign up?
In most countries, no. A local VAT ID is not mandatory, but a tax identification number is. If you are not VAT-registered, you select No in the tax details and enter your TIN and its country of issue.
How many times can I try verification?
Three times in total. Fix the specific problem before each new attempt instead of sending the same data again.
Can I resubmit an activity that was rejected?
No. A rejected activity cannot be resubmitted. You can create a new activity, but it needs to offer something genuinely different from the rejected one.
What happens after my account is approved?
You manage listings, bookings, reviews and payouts from the Supplier Portal. Our guide to running a GetYourGuide account day to day covers that part.
