GetYourGuide Commission Rates: What Operators Actually Pay
The real commission range, how payout timing works, and when experienced operators actually get it negotiated down.
By OperatorGateway
"What's the commission?" is usually the second question operators ask, right after "can I even sign up." Here's the real number, not a marketing-page estimate.
The commission range
GetYourGuide's standard commission sits between 20% and 30%, with 30% as the default starting rate for new suppliers. There's no upfront listing fee — the commission is the entire cost of being on the platform, deducted from each booking before payout. The exact rate within that range depends on your product category and country.
When it actually comes down
GetYourGuide doesn't publish a formal negotiation threshold, but the figure that comes up consistently across operator accounts is around 1,000 bookings a year — that's roughly the volume where a rate conversation becomes realistic. Below that, most suppliers stay at or near the default rate regardless of how good their reviews are. This is worth planning for from day one: your first year's commission rate is not your permanent rate if you build real volume.
GetYourGuide is also contractually limited in how much it can raise your rate later — any increase is capped at 20% of your current rate, and you're guaranteed at least four weeks' written notice by email before it takes effect. It can't simply change your economics overnight.
Payout timing
The default payout cycle is monthly: you're paid on the 5th business day of the month following the booking's activity date. If you'd rather get paid faster, GetYourGuide offers a bi-weekly option — paid on the 5th and 20th — but it comes at a cost: bi-weekly payouts carry an additional +2% commission. For an operator running tight cash flow in the first year, that trade-off (faster cash vs. 2% of revenue) is worth calculating explicitly rather than defaulting into.
How this compares to running your own booking
The commission can look steep next to a direct-booking website with no marketplace cut at all — but that comparison misses what the commission buys: GetYourGuide's own marketing spend puts your listing in front of travelers who were never going to find your direct site, in a search market you'd otherwise have to buy into yourself at a real cost per click. For most operators, the right framing isn't "GetYourGuide vs. free direct bookings," it's "GetYourGuide's 20-30% vs. what it would cost to generate the same volume of new customers on your own."
The number that matters more than the percentage
A lower commission rate on a listing nobody sees is worth less than a 30% commission on a listing that's actually converting. Review quality, pricing competitiveness, and listing content move your booking volume far more than a few percentage points of commission — which is exactly the ground our Managed & Trained package is built to work on, once your account is live.
If you're not eligible to open an account directly — see which countries GetYourGuide currently restricts — the commission question is moot until the account itself exists. Get in touch if that's where you are.
