GetYourGuide Account Disabled? Here's What Actually Triggers It

What GetYourGuide's own terms say about suspension and deactivation, the difference between the two, and what the appeal process actually looks like.

By OperatorGateway

If you've landed here because your account just got restricted, start with this: read the email GetYourGuide sent you. It states the specific reason, and the fix depends entirely on which reason it is. With that said, here's what GetYourGuide's own policy actually says, so you know what you're dealing with.

Suspension vs. deactivation — they're not the same thing

GetYourGuide distinguishes between two levels of action, and the difference matters:

  • Temporary suspension: your activities stop accepting new bookings, but existing bookings can generally proceed as planned or are handled with a specific resolution. You're told what's required to get reinstated.
  • Permanent deactivation: your activities are removed from the platform and the supplier agreement is terminated. This is the end state, not a pause.

What actually triggers it

Per GetYourGuide's Supplier Terms and Quality Guidelines, the grounds include:

  • Violating applicable laws or regulations
  • Repeated or severe breaches of GetYourGuide's Activity Quality Guidelines (safety, guest experience, listing accuracy)
  • Any action that reflects poorly on GetYourGuide, its customers, or other suppliers

In practice, the more common real-world triggers are less dramatic than "breaking the law": a pattern of guest complaints, misleading listing content, repeated no-shows or late pickups, or a listing that no longer matches what's actually delivered on the ground.

What GetYourGuide can actually do

The available actions escalate: a warning, content removal, temporarily restricting access, stopping new bookings, canceling affected bookings, withholding payouts, or full termination. It's not automatically the worst outcome the first time something goes wrong — but repeated or severe issues move up that list quickly.

Is there an appeal?

You're given the opportunity to present your case, but GetYourGuide's own terms are explicit that the final decision is non-negotiable once made. This makes the case-presentation stage the only real leverage point — respond promptly, with specifics (dates, booking references, corrective action already taken), rather than a general defense.

How to actually avoid this

The single highest-leverage thing you can do is treat your first few months on the platform as a quality-proving period, not just a sales-volume period: confirm pickup logistics clearly before every activity, respond to guest messages fast, and fix the pattern behind any repeated complaint before it becomes three complaints instead of one. This is exactly the ongoing attention our Managed & Trained package is built to provide — not just optimizing for bookings, but protecting the account itself.

If you're not even at the account stage yet

If you're reading this because you're researching risk before signing up, or because you're based in a country where GetYourGuide won't let you register directly in the first place, that's a different problem with a different fix — see which countries GetYourGuide currently restricts and get in touch if that's your situation.
